Walk For Life 2016

Congratulations to the Walk for Life team for organising this year's event. Thank you to everyone who attended and raised money for this amazing cancer charity. When we hear how much was raised we will let you know. In the meantime please have a look at the photos.

Well done Stacey Smith and your gymnastics team for your beautiful display and to Ovie and his Kids Kick Boxing team. You should both be very proud of yourselves.

Sophia Wellness Centre offers an exciting laser fat reduction and inch loss treatment. This product is designed to specifically target spot fat reduction (inch loss) without surgery, the pain or the recovery time. By targeting adipocyte cells (fat cells), the process offers an effective and safe solution to fat reduction, which can be carried out on several areas of the body.

Each treatment session is a relaxing and pain free experience, varying between 40-50 minutes in length, depending on the needs and objectives of the client. The clinician uses a combination of small probes and paddles to directly target the client's problem areas and a safe solution to fat reduction, which can be carried out on several areas of the body.

Do You Have Visitors This Summer?

Don't forget we have holiday maker gym daily and weekly passes and also welcome the kids to either our gymnastics classes or Kids kickboxing classes. Everyone is welcome at Sophia's.

We also offer pamper packages tailor made for you and your visitors. Just speak with Stacey and she will be pleased to organise it. It can include a cheeky glass of cava and nibbles at a great rate.

Update from our Security Dog Bentley

Thank you everybody for your best wishes and patience whilst we fostered Bentley. Just to let you all know he is settled in Germany. His new family love him to bits and keep us updated on his cheeky antics. Both Phil and I would recommend fostering a puppy and if you are interested please come and have a chat. As heart breaking as it was to let him go, we have no regrets and loved every (well almost every) minute with him.

New to Sophias

Spider Vein Removal.

I have just had my spider veins removed by our lovely Spanish Therapist Innes. My spider veins were spreading and looking horrendous, so I had them injected and after 3 treatments, they have gone. This was painless and so effective. I definitely recommend a consultation if you have these unsightly veins. Innes is with us every 4 - 6 weeks.

Exciting News

Sophia's is proud to announce a new type of facial, called "Peeling Químico". It translates as Facial peel. It's a light chemical peel that is non-invasive, it removes the upper layers of dead and damaged skin and encourages skin cell regeneration. This type of peel provides gentle treatment for fine lines, acne, chronic dry skin, and uneven pigmentation. For any of you that have experienced Laser Hair Removal will already know our Spanish Beauticians Ines and Rocio. These lovely ladies will be offering this new facial on their visits to Sophia's.

If anyone would like more information, or would like to book an appointment, then please ask at reception.

Did You Know

I didn't know this ... and to think all these years I've only been making salads with the cucumbers or adding a slice to my Gin and Tonic.

What a little gem the cucumber is. I will look at it differently now.

  1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.
  2. Feeling tired in the afternoon? Put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.
  3. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminium to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.
  4. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!
  5. Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache!
  6. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking binge? Cucumbers have been used for centuries and often used by European trappers, traders and explores for quick meals to thwart off starvation.

Most people think acupuncture is used to fix things like painful necks, shoulders, knees and backs or to give up smoking. Whilst these may be true the real strength of Traditional Acupuncture lies in helping people who are well to stay well. We get our cars serviced to prevent breaking down and this is how we should regard the use of acupuncture in managing our health - to keep us well.
